Wanted to share

So, I have had photo block for a while now.  I find myself working at the day job all the time and not taking time to get out there and shoot.  I decided tonight just to go through some of my old photos and see if anything struck me and I found these two images.  I took these a few weeks ago while on a day trip to Desota Caverns in Northern Alabama.  I loved them so I wanted to share.

Speak Up!

Every time I do a photo shoot, I learn something new. To get better at my shooting I try to think about the shoot and what happened and how I did. My lesson learned recently is to SPEAK UP! I am a low talker. Some would call it mumbling, but I hate that word so I like to say low talker. When I take pictures I have to be aware of how I am speaking and how I am giving direction. When I have a camera and my hands near my face and the people I am directing may be 20 yards away quietly telling them what to do just does not work! So my lesson and a great tip is to speak up and speak loud when giving direction to your models.

Happy shooting – and find the art in every day moments

Childrens Harbor Lighthouse - Three Ways

Not Part of my State Park Journey - But Still Scenic

Okay, so along the way to visit all the state parks in AL - I may make a few detours.  I had one such detour today at Lake Martin.  I stopped and took some fun pictures.  It was an overcast and VERY cold day today, which seemed to work well with the images I wanted to get.

Chewacla State Park - Auburn, AL

Up first on my Alabama State Park mission, I tackled Chewacla State Park in Auburn, AL.  This state park is a great day trip and it is just a hop and a skip from that state capital, Montgomery.  When you enter the park, if you follow the main road all the way through, you will go to a scenic overlook at the top where you can hike down to some great water falls.

The scenery is gorgeous and picturesque.  I had fun hiking the trails and snapping photos!

2011 - ROCK ON!

Alrighty - what a long break from blogging and posting!  I have been here all a long working and growing Pratts photography, just need to find the time to talk about :)

So for 2011, I am on a mission to visit all the Alabama State Parks and to share my pictures from my adventures.  Stayed tuned to my site http://www.prattsphotography.com/ and http://prattsphotography.blogspot.com/ to stay in the know and to track my progress.

Remember - let me know if you would like to book a session!
